IP Protection
A customer need to ensure that their networking appliance was not cloned and that and certain components of their IP (intellectual property) was protected.
We first needed to determine which hardware and software components were intellectual property. We then worked closely with the customer to review different potential attacks scenarios to their equipment. We then decided what levels of risk could be tolerated based on the likelihood that these attacks would be conducted, how easy those attacks could be applied, and the cost associated with preventing those attacks.
We also worked closely with the customer to define the business processes of fulfillment, licensing, and field update to ensure that these processes were secure and met the requirements of the various departments. For the implementation, we determined the components of the system that were the most secure for enforcing security policies and which components of the system could be protected against the loss of IP. GraniteKey then provided technologies to support the business processes of fulfillment, licensing, and field update.
